Well, according to what I've read on Wookiepedia, the Stormtroopers were, for the most part, mediocre soldiers in terms of individual skill. The Rebels have one chokepoint to shoot at the end of a relatively short hallway, and yet once the door's blown down, at best they only kill three stormtroopers while the Imperials also aren't able to take them all down. Lots of people say that the Stormtroopers engaging the main characters have been told to allow them to proceed, but even on the Tantive IV they and the Rebels are horrendous shots. The Battle of Utapau saw the introduction of even more formidable grapple droid, one that had a red color scheme and was capable of sending powerful energy blasts across the ground towards a target. At times, they served as military police for the droid army. In addition to being used during the Battle of Coruscant, they took part in the occupation of Utapau. Grapple droids were used aboard the Invisible Hand where they attempted to stop Anakin Skywalker's and Obi-Wan Kenobi's rescue of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. General Grievous himself personally oversaw its modifications. They proved dangerously efficient against Jedi, who, if grappled, were unable to use a lightsaber. The grapple droid excelled at close-quarters combat and its embrace was quite deadly. They could also be used to smash through stone walls.
Bigger and profoundly more vicious than its predecessors, the grapple droid was equipped with electrically charged industrial pincers, which are used to crush or impale enemies and obstacles.
